It was the battle over whether Kansas would be admitted as a slave state or free state. Leading up to the civil war. It was full of atrocities and massacres. Right up there with what the Taliban does today.

During a pandemic like this, if a convention is still running full steam ahead despite a surge in new cases, there's a 90% chance that it's because they are legally bound to run the event or face bankruptcy due to breach of contract. The only thing that really guarantees a safe cancellation is if the local or federal government forces event spaces to shut down.

Yikes the one that appears affordable has gone up in price since that article. These are so expensive compared to the boxes of surgical masks I got. Those were 5 bucks for a box of 50, 10 cents a mask. These are like 2 bucks a mask oof that's a steep climb for something disposable and used so often.

Never settle for eventually getting Covid: lost of taste and smell (actual brain damage, recoverable.. sometimes), permanent organ damge, especially with ED (The virus has been found in "those tissues" even in people who had it then tested negative later). In 1978 it snowed so bad most places were closed for 2 days. There was a snowpile on the wide corner of Webter Ave. and Fordham road that took forever to melt. It looked like it was still there by Memorial Day but it was all the accumulated dirt from the air that had settled on it: about a foot and a half high.

Boston harbor and the Charles river are substantially cleaner than they were in the 70s. Buuuut.... There are layers of heavily polluted mud underneath the cleaner mud laying above. So anything that stirs up a lot of mud releases that back into the water. Nobody has figured out a way to clean that up without also essentially killing the whole ecosystem. So there it lays. Waiting.

The people whom run the hotel in Stamford have been there a long while. Imo from their professionalism when we met with them a while back, and whom actually owns them now and what they stand for I don't think anything will differ from how it was.

Its 2 hotels in one so plenty of space. the rooms are wonderful, nice and clean (last time we were there was awesome), I didn't notice any ceilings leaking XP Maybe.. Just maybe I saw the aftermath of a bird flying into a wall/window but hey that happens everywhere no big deal lol. Restaurants in the area are mint... especially that pizza place we went to,.. was on point.

That's rad. I work with a bunch of nerds, so they're generally at least *aware* of furries, but I did have a chat on Wednesday/Thursday with one who has been to every ANE until this one (took a pass due to COVID) and I guess runs the game room at Furpoc?
